An Analysis on Invertibility of Cancelable Biometrics based on BioHashing

چکیده
⎯ One of the aims of cancelable biometrics is to protect privacy. In order to protect privacy, cancelable biometrics are preferably to be non-invertible such that no information can be revealed from the cancelable biometrics template, which is stored in databases for personal identification/verification. One way to achieve the non-invertibility is through the use of non-invertible transforms. Recently, some new cancelable biometric approaches are proposed based on BioHashing. Those approaches are utilizing non-invertible transforms to achieve cancelable biometrics and thus non-invertibility is also attained. It is revealed that, however, if cancelable biometric templates are compromised and information about the transformation is uncovered, the process is “invertible” to the extent that the matcher may be fooled.

An Analysis on Accuracy of Cancelable Biometrics Based on BioHashing
Cancelable biometrics has been proposed for canceling and re-issuing biometric templates and for protecting privacy in biometrics systems. Recently, new cancelable biometric approaches are proposed based on BioHashing, which are random transformed feature-based cancelable biometrics. In this paper, we consider the accuracy of one of the cancelable biometrics based on BioHashing and face. Throug...
متن کاملBioEncoding: A Reliable Tokenless Cancelable Biometrics Scheme for Protecting IrisCodes
Despite their usability advantages over traditional authentication systems, biometrics-based authentication systems suffer from inherent privacy violation and non-revocability issues. In order to address these issues, the concept of cancelable biometrics was introduced as a means of generating multiple, revocable, and noninvertible identities from true biometric templates. Apart from BioHashing...
متن کاملOn the Security of BioEncoding Based Cancelable Biometrics
Proving the security of cancelable biometrics and other template protection techniques is a key prerequisite for the widespread deployment of biometric technologies. BioEncoding is a cancelable biometrics scheme that has been proposed recently to protect biometric templates represented as binary strings like iris codes. Unlike other template protection schemes, BioEncoding does not require user...
متن کاملDual-key-binding cancelable palmprint cryptosystem for palmprint protection and information security
Biometric cryptosystems and cancelable biometrics are both practical and promising schemes to enhance the security and privacy of biometric systems. Though a number of bio-crypto algorithms have been proposed, they have limited practical applicability because they lack of cancelability. Since biometrics are immutable, the users whose biometrics are stolen cannot use bio-crypto systems anymore. ...
متن کاملBiometric template transformation: a security analysis
One of the critical steps in designing a secure biometric system is protecting the templates of the users that are stored either in a central database or on smart cards. If a biometric template is compromised, it leads to serious security and privacy threats because unlike passwords, it is not possible for a legitimate user to revoke his biometric identifiers and switch to another set of uncomp...
